hi there, im a cna currently looking at different schools for lpn in chicagoland area. could i ask you where you went to school? the problem im seeing is that many hospital wont hire lpns. Thanks, :lol2:

I went to Wilbur wright college, it's one of the city colleges of chicago. Few other schools that have LPN programs are Kennedy -king (Dawson center) , South Suburban college, Olympia college, elgin community college. Good luck.

One hospital that I know of that has LPNs is South Suburban Hospital in Hazelcrest. Whether they hire them out of school, I have no clue.

Kindred Hospitals hire LPNs, as does Norweigan American. Some hospitals will also hire LPNs but only in certain departments (Central DuPage, Provena, St. Alexius/Alexian Brothers) or in their outpatient/ambulatory care clinics (Loyola, Rush). If you have a hospital in mind you would consider working at, go ahead and check their website. They will usually have information on the site as to what type of nursing staff they hire.

Stroger Hospital of Cook County hire Lpn's, thats where I worked as an Lpn before becoming an RN. The experience I got there helped alot while I was going for Rn and after becoming an Rn.
