Does anyone know what the typical job duties would be for a hospital admissions coordinator? I have an interview scheduled for a new position, but the hospital is still working on the job description. Do you think this would be mostly paperwork or assessments? I have searched through the forums, but I have only found information on LTC admissions coordinators. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

It might be similar to our "Admit/Transfer Center", in which all ER addmission, in-house transfers, transfers from other hospitals and direct admits go through. Depending on how busy the facility is, it can be a hectic position, taking doctors orders, making bed assignments, etc. Our ATC coordinator also has a secretary to help find beds.
Or are you talking about an "admissions nurse", one who admits the patient doing the initial assessment and data base, delivers the patient to the floor and then turns it over to the floor nurse?
