Dear Colleagues; As a hospice nurse I have started a new job and I am responsible for
16 very sick hospice patients. Is this the normal ratio? When I was a hospice nurse before
it was 10 to 12 patients. Could someone let me know? TY

Are you working in home hospice or hospice house?
In any way - case load in home hospice where I worked was between 18-22. When i Left some had as many as 28 (some of them palliative though and less visits).
I have no idea how may patients a nurse in a hospice house would take.
It would be helpful to know if you are case managing or in a facility and what exactly you a struggling with.

In the inpatient hospice where I worked for 5+ years, the patient load was 8 for one RN and one CNA.
