Hi to all and thanks to every one that can give any needed advice about getting into a program. I have been a nurse for 14 years and have worked in several different ICU settings from trauma to CVicu. I am currently in a RN to BSN program and will finish in this spring. My grades have suffered from the start and stopping my BSN in the past. (2001 and 2004). My GPA is 3.0 and I am planning to take the GRE in the summer and I know that I must get a great score in order to get accepted. I have read about taking an advanced course, any suggestions of a program/class that I should consider. I also have my CCRN. I am looking to apply in the fall for 2010.
What kind of extracurricular or community projects I can get involved to help my chances?
How can I improve my GPA?
Should I focus a lot of attention to the GRE?
Thanks ICURN39:)

Sounds like you already have lot of experience and CCRN going for you. Try to do well on the GRE and poss. take some grad level courses or re-take any classes you feel you may have bombed previously, esp. science courses. This may help to indirectly raise your GPA or at least show you are ready for and can handle grad school. Join any unit-based or hospital-wide committees to show involvement outside of nsg practice (for example I'm on a Policy/Procedure committee). Shadow CRNAs and become very familiar with AANA and CRNA-related topics. Get a few awesome references and you're on your way. Good luck
