I am currently contemplating nursing school and have been for some time now but I have a legal issue that I think my hinder my chances for my dream. In 2002 my boyfriend and I got into a major fight and I protected myself by attacking him with a kitchen knife in front of our two children. I was the only one arrested since I had a weapon and served 2 1/2 months in jail. This was a felony arrest. The charges were dropped but I want to get someone else's perspective on this issue. I am very uncertain. Please reply???

It is up to each state to determine the minimum qualifications (academic, "moral," legal, etc.) for all of its licensed professional categories from hairdresser through MD and including nurses.
So you will need to get information from the board of nursing in whatever state you wish to be licensed in before you know whether your felony record would be a limitation there.
Anything else is sheer speculation.
