Hoosiers - need an opinion

Published

Hey there! I am in Martinsville and that puts me 30 min North of Bloomington (where I currently attend Ivy Tech) and about 45 minutes West of Columbus. With application deadlines for Fall quickly approaching, I need a couple of opinions on if it would be stupid to apply to both Columbus and Bloomington or stupid not to. I know that Columbus if further away - and with gas prices would be more money; plus I haven't taken one class there - I don't know the teachers or the school. However, I feel like I am doubling my odds of getting into a program if I do apply to both. My file is complete for Bloomington - I just checked yesterday. I have all my class points and got an 84 on my first time at the TEAS. I can take it again before the deadline of March 9th. Now, for Columbus, the deadline is February 6th, meaning I will have to go with my current TEAS score. I have signed up for the mandatory informational meeting at Columbus just in case. I simply wanted to hear others thoughts about it :)

Thanks so much!!

Hey Traci,

I can't speak for Bloomington, but I am attending Columbus and loving it! I drive from Indy and made the choice for Columbus over Indy because of my visit to the campus and seeing the faculty there. Whole different atttitude imho. I did apply for several campuses just to make sure I had all my bases covered since it is so competitive to get in, well you just never know.

I wish you the best of luck, if you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

I understand where you are coming from. I attend Ivy Tech in Gary but I think I will double my chances by applying the Valporaiso campus. Gary tries to make things sooooo difficult, however I think my chances will be higher with Valpo. You should apply to both, I think it is a sure thing. I am doing that and I don't feel bad because it is the same school, same rules, same classes. Don't worry about it, just do it, and good luck to you. I am sure you will be fine. At least you have already taken the TEAS, I am too chicken.

Thank you for the reply. I have since decided that it would be CRAZY to not apply to both campuses ;) I went to the informational meeting last Tuesday in Columbus - and it was wonderful. If I get in to both, it will be a hard decision to make, but I'm actually leaning towards Columbus - simply because the people were so great!!

I just wanted to say good luck to you. I hope you have the dilemma of having to choose which campus you want to attend :) As for the TEAS, it was NOT as bad as the study guide portrayed. I will be retaking it on the 6th, which actually gets my score updated before the cut-off in Columbus. If you want, you can email or pm me for more info on it. I will be happy to share!!

Be blessed & thanks again,

Traci
