Honor Health New Grad Orientation

U.S.A. Arizona

Hello! Does anyone know what kind of orientation Honor Health offers for New Grad Nurses? Is it a residency type of a program? How long is the orientation period/time with a preceptor? I checked their website and the new grad info was more about how to apply, but not much else. Any information anyone can offer would be great! :)

I'm in HonorHealth's RN Residency Program now for new grads :)

It includes two half days of initial clinical orientation (along with two half days plus another full day of EMR training) at the NSSC near Deer Valley. Then 10 half day classes (lecture, interactive exercises and sim scenarios with mannequins) spread out over approximately six months at the education center near Shea. Two assigned nurse educators monitor your progress and check in with you on your unit over the first year.

I didn't know ANYTHING about it through my application, interview, or new hire process though! No one mentioned it and there was nothing about it on the website or new grad job postings. I learned about it when my supervisor emailed my schedule for the first five weeks and there were RN residency classes listed. I called to find out when and where and she said I would find out about it at orientation.

Apparently HonorHealth used to have this but stopped. It was restarted last year I think and they're in cohort 10 of the current program. It feels very organized and supportive so far. Not sure why it's so super secret ;)

Hope that helps!

Yes that helps a lot!! Thank you! Yea I don't understand why they don't offer up that information. All of my clinicals have been at Banner facilities so far, but I live close to 3 Honor Health Facilities and would really like to apply to them. Did u do any of clinicals at an Honor health facility before you got hired?? Are u on a med-surg floor?

I did all my clinicals but peds at HonorHealth locations. I ended up applying to a med-surg tele floor where I had a good experience but in my RN residency classes I'm with new grads who got hired into ICU, CVICU, neuro ICU, PCCU, cardiac rehab, med-surg oncology, DTU, might have heard someone say L&D. Plenty of specialties represented and definitely a mix of associates and BSNs :)

Hello! How do I go about applying for this new grad program since it is not posted on the HonorHealth website? Any information would really help and be greatly appreciated! I just passed my NCLEX!

Apply to any new grad RN position posted and you're included in the next cohort after your hire date. The new grad postings seem to come and go quickly so check every day or every other day at least, and don't give up if you're not getting any responses. A friend from school just got an interview finally and said she's applied for every new grad position that popped up since she got her license in Jan.

Okay great thank you! I had my residency in the ED at Hinirahealtg but they unfortunately do not hire new grads there, so the recruiter encouraged me to apply to their new grad positions. Yeah I've been checking multiple times a day everyday! And haven't heard back. Wow that's a long time:( okay thank you

I actually just got a call yesterday for the PCCU! Is that where your friend is interviewing as well?:)

Congrats and good luck in your interview! I can't remember what department she said, but it was at Osborn.

Hello!

I know this post is a long time ago, but I was wondering if you guys know if Honor Health still has New Graduate RN positions available? I have spoken to a recruiter and they said that I need to be graduated to even apply. Around when did you apply to the program and when did it start?

Thanks in advance!

So I now work at honor health and I don’t know about a new grad program but I do see New Grad positions pop up every few weeks. OR nurse programs I think open up in June. If you haven’t already you should sign up for the daily job emails from them on their website so you can catch it the day it posts! I got the job I have now after having 1 year experience so my position was not a new grad position. I hope this helps. Best of luck!
