So I now work at honor health and I don’t know about a new grad program but I do see New Grad positions pop up every few weeks. OR nurse programs I think open up in June. If you haven’t already you should sign up for the daily job emails from them on their website so you can catch it the day it posts! I got the job I have now after having 1 year experience so my position was not a new grad position. I hope this helps. Best of luck!

Thank you everyone for your responses, it really helped in making my decision. I did accept the CVICU position and I start in a couple of weeks! I am excited and nervous at the same, but I am really looking forward to learning how to care for these patients 😊

Hello! I have been offered new grad positions in both a Cardiac Surgical PCU and a CVICU. Both level 1 trauma facilities within the same Hospital System but at different locations. I am a new grad and always knew that I had an interest in the cardiac specialty so I am pleased with these two options! I did my residency in a cardiac PCU so I know that I love the patient population and pace of this kind of unit. I have also shadowed and did two clinical shifts in CVICU so I am also familiar with this patient population and pace. I started nursing school thinking that I wanted to go into an CVICU position, I like the complexity of the CVICU patient but after shadowing and clinical rotation experience I felt that the pace was a bit too slow for me, I know I might feel differently when I am actually working there. Not sure exactly where I see myself in the next couple of years but I do know that I am interested in PACU, Cath Lab and potentially NP or a CRNA. Now I know that I will need ICU experience to be a CRNA, but does PCU experience count at all? And I am not set on CRNA. I am in my late 30's and not sure if I am going to want to go back for that schooling. The future is hard to predict until I start working in the profession. So to compare the two positions Cardiac Surgical PCU- Days, reasonable commute, less pay, level 1 trauma CVICU- Nights, reasonable commute, $5 more for night shift, level 1 trauma, I know other new grads from my program that will be working nights at this facility (different units) My dilemma is I think I will enjoy PCU but its a day position and I really prefer night shift because it will work better with my kids schedule. CVICU is nights but I am afraid the pace might be too slow, but from what I've been told having CVICU experience down the road opens a lot of doors for other positions. The recruiter thinks that the PCU is a better well rounded choice. I would love for you all to give me your two cents on which sounds like the better choice from your experience in this profession. I know ultimately it is my decision :) Thanks in advance for your help!

Has anyone else been contacted for interviews? My application still says "application received" I'm starting to lose hope Those who have had interviews how did it go? And did they say anything about how much longer they will be interviewing candidates?

Hi! Thanks for starting this thread, It's great to connect with other applicants! I also applied for the February residency for med/surg and critical care. I did my clinical residency there over the summer in their PCU unit. I have been constantly checking my status but it still says application received.

All of my clinicals have been at Banner facilities so far, but I live close to 3 Honor Health Facilities and would really like to apply to them. Did u do any of clinicals at an Honor health facility before you got hired?? Are u on a med-surg floor?

Hello! Does anyone know what kind of orientation Honor Health offers for New Grad Nurses? Is it a residency type of a program? How long is the orientation period/time with a preceptor? I checked their website and the new grad info was more about how to apply, but not much else. Any information anyone can offer would be great! :)

I am not sure of the answer to that one. Does it show you having clinicals from the start of the semester or is it several weeks into the program?? I agree it would make sense if it said PM. But I would assume that it probably is until you confirm it with your advisor.

You will definitely get all of the info, we had 2 or 3 breaks 10-15 minutes each. And in therapeutic communications and Foundations there wasn't enough info to fill the time. Even the professors said it. Although foundations will be different for you guys since they changed the curriculum for that one. 2 hrs is plenty of time for Pharm and Health Assessment.

So right now for us we have 2 lecture classes tuesdays and 2 lecture classes thursdays. Friday 12-3 lab and we used to have Wednesday 1:30-3:30 Pharm lab, but that was only for 8 weeks, we don't have clinicals in level 1. With changes they have made for incoming level 1's you will have lectures, labs and clinicals but I assume the clinicals will come later on especially since its only for 5 weeks. Your lecture classes will be shorter (only 2hrs each) ours are 3-4hrs each Do you have the new schedule?? I know some stuff changed for us when we go to level 2 but she didn't elaborate, I would love to know what it looks like for next semester. They did say some of the class names and course numbers changed. You will mainly have Professor Tovar for all lecture classes except Therapeutic communications. She told us that she will be teaching those classes in fall for level 1.

An update to what your schedule will be like in the fall-Our professor just told us what it will be like for the level 1's. 3 2hr labs (i'm assuming per week) and 1 clinical per week for 5 weeks. And then 4 lecture classes 2 hrs per class (will probably be split between 2 days like it is now). I think this is much better than they way they did it for us.

I haven't taken it yet but a few people in my class have taken it and said its a lot of writing and busy work. Definitely take it and get it out of the way.
