Home health

Published

Hey guys! I'm a new nurse, and recently passed boards on April 25th. I've been searching for jobs, which is a little difficult in my area. There are a lot of home health jobs available though. I guess I was wondering what is everyone's opinion on new nurses taking home health positions? The job I'm wondering about is one woman Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 12 hrs each day and 21/hr. I'm hesitant because it would be my first job and I would be alone. Any opinions?

You will get an orientation to the case by the clinical supervisor and the primary nurse and/or the family. If either you or the other parties feel uncomfortable, you won't be forced to start this case. You should always insist on a thorough orientation, including being provided a copy of the plan of care so you can look things up and come up with questions.
