I am from Orange county California, I was a ER nurse (RN) for 12 years and I injured by back and have been on disability for 1 year. I am looking into Home Health and Hospice. Since I have been away from nursing for 1 year, I wanted to find out what the salaries were for hourly paid full time staff and per visit rates for per diem staff. Thank you

I work for a non-profit VNA in central Pennsylvania, so the rates could be drastically different. For me, it is about the same as working at the local hospital. A for-profit agency (especially shift work) the hourly rate can be higher.

Hi there,
Here in NY. Per diem rates are $40. per routine visits. $75 per admits. Routine visits are typically 45 min-1 hr. Admits are 1-2 hrs. Full time employees are salaried positions, starting in the 44,000/yr range with mileage extra reimbursed at .45 cents/mile.
hope that helps

You will find different rates quoted based on whether you will be doing hourly shift work or intermittent work and whether you will be part of the office staff. Office staff, like supervisors and case managers are usually salaried. Nurses who work shifts doing patient care are usually paid by the hour. As stated before, if you are going to be doing admits, recerts, etc. your compensation is usually paid by the type of visit. Suggest you call around to the different agencies in your area and ask them what their rates of pay are. Unless you find people who work for these agencies, this is the best way to find out what they pay before you are going through the hiring process.
