Currently living in Illinois doing home health. I like home health WAY more than working in an acute care setting like a hospital. However, been doing it for 2.5 years now. The hours as just sucky as a home health nurse. It says 8-4:30pm but I work 9-10 a day with charting and drive 60 miles. Want to be home more with my baby AND I would really just like to be able to have a life (in home care it seems like I never have any days off in the week). Is public health worth a pay cut of 8-10K? Do you have a good home life and get to quit work when you leave for the day? Do you mostly leave on time? Or is it like every other nursing position I’ve had where you work more hours than you get paid for?
Thanks for your responses!
