I live in Brevard county (the space coast) and I would love to hear about any home health care agency's that you have enjoyed working for with competitive wadges. Thank you for any and all feedback.

I work for Senior Home Care in the Orlando office. There is also a branch in Melbourne. I work in the office doing intake, but I was in the field as an RN for a couple of months. It's a good company and growing. Good money too. Let me know if you're interested and have home care experience. Let me know if you need more info.

nursestacy62,
I am planing to move from NY to FL, I have 2+ years working in a hospital and whould like ro transit into a home care in FL. The company you work for are concidering RN's with HC experience only or they'll give me a chance? Do home care agencies pay more than hospitals?Thank you very much:)
Right now our company prefers to hire nurses with home care experience because it's nothing like hospital nursing. Depending on how many visits you do, you can make more than hospitals but you work at least 5 days a week, no 3 12-hour shifts and you're done. You also have to be on call about once a month which means you work 12 days straight. It's not easy work.
Thank you. Two of my friends left the hospital and went into home care=they like it much better- less stress. I would definately like to try it:)
When you're ready you can apply at seniorhomecare.net. It is still stressful but not in the same way that floor nursing is. There are offices all over Florida too.
nursestacey62, thank you very much for your help!! would you say that it is better to start with hospital job than a home care when you move from state to state?Do home care agencies give you patients around your address( do I have to be present in FL first?)Thank you again!!!
That's a good question and I wish I knew the answer since I'm planning on moving out of state in a few months too. We try to keep your patients in your area but it depends on where the patients live. If we get 5 patients on the west side that need to be started, the nurses from the east side need to come an help out even though it's out of their area. You can start the application process and try to interview over the phone before you move to FL. That's what I'm going to do.
Are you moving to the Orlando area?
Nursestasy62, may I ask you why r u moving out of state?
I have lived in Florida for over 30 years and it's never felt like home. I'm originally from CT but it's way too cold to go back there and the taxes are outrageous. I'm moving to NC because the climate is nice, people are very nice, and there's no traffic!! I won't know how to act!!! Where are you moving from? NY?
I am moving from Brooklyn, NY. It's been good here, but I need something else, my life is different now. Would you say that NC is a better place than FL? My friends are scaring me that I am young and single( I have an 8 y.o. daughter) and I will be bored in FL since the most of population are Elderly. What whould you say?
How is the pay for RN's with 2 years of experience?
Thank you very much!
There are elderly people but there are also plenty of people of all ages. Besides, elderly people are the ones who need nurses! If you're going to work as a floor nurse, I would think you could make $24 or $25/hr plus shift differentials but I only worked in the hospital as a graduate nurse. You can make more in home health care. I'm talking about central FL. i don't know about other areas. What area of FL are you thinking about moving to?
