Hi everyone,
I am currently trying to decide between Holy Family's accelerated nursing program and Rutgers Camden ABS program. I have heard good and bad things about both and am wondering if anyone can give their opinion about attending/hearing about either school? Also, is either school viewed 'better' than one another or are they about the same? They are roughly the same price and program length.

You should definitely apply to both programs. Rutgers is more strict on your prereq grades, they will not accept Cs in A&P and micro.
I'm in the Rutgers accelerated program right now.
If you are interested in one day becoming an np, Rutgers offers 3 advanced classes that count towards both your bachelor's and your DNP or master's. They are advanced health assessment, advanced pathophysiology and advanced pharm. They will transfer anywhere. I am taking the advanced patho and advanced health assessment right now. I recommend the advanced patho if you were an A&P/micro whiz. I am ambivalent about the advanced health assessment class. Ask me again next semester.
In nursing, the name of the school doesn't mean a whole lot. Rutgers may have a slight edge, but I don't think it's a significant factor.
Rutgers pushes the DNP hard, and they don't even offer an MSN.
I like my Rutgers profs a lot. No complaints there. Membership in the national student nurse association, and a bag of nursing stuff including a littman stethoscope and blood pressure cuff are included in your student fees and tuition.
I don't like getting info, including my schedule, last minute and getting conflicting info. You need to be on the ball with some of these folks. However, that seems to be improving and I am figuring out who responds and who doesn't. It is very helpful that my cohort has a Facebook group and we all help each other.
In general, I am happy with the program.
Feel free to message me if you have any more questions.
Thank you for the detailed response! Yes, I've heard that Rutgers is slightly disorganized and that is one of my concerns because little annoyances/inconsistencies can become very stressful when already undertaking a challenging schedule. However I'm glad it's improving and you like the program overall!
