Holy Family University Fall 2018 Accelerated

Published

Anyone applied for the Fall '18 start, for the second degree BSN program? When did you apply? Have you heard anything? I have applied on February 22 and very nervous about it as I think I did it late. I was hoping to connect with some people who are in the same boat with me! Let's be positive and help each other through the waiting process!

Hey Jil.

I just finished my first semester. Literally today. So far i like it. The teachers want you to do well, and are helpful. If you have more questions you can direct message me.

Hi Mike,

HFU is my top choice as well. Just wondering what healthcare experience you had before applying? I have none at all and I'm worried I will not get in because of that. My GPA is 3.7 for my undergrad (English) and I'm doing my pre-reqs now & am on track for a 3.8-4.0.

Any help you can give is much appreciated!

hey jwear. I had zero healthcare experience before applying. I only had about a 3.0 exact cumulative GPA with a 4.0 in the pre-reqs. I'm four months from graduation. Don't worry about you previous degree, mine was broadcast journalism.

Like Kelly said, many of my classmates don't have much healthcare experience. I never worked in a hospital but I worked in gym with cardiac rehab patients. I think that having experience will help, but it is definitely not necessary. My previous degree was Health and Exercise Science.

I had a 3.6 GPA overall

Hey there!

I am applying for summer 19 and have to redo nutrition because mine was not taught by a RD. Has anyone taken the class from bucks community college? I just am nervous it won't be right! Im super nervous to apply.

Donna, I'm currently in the program and my nutrition class was not with a registered dietician. I actually took it online at Bucks over the winter break.

Really? The one director of admissions said it had to be taught by an RD so i was going to take it again! I just would hate not to get accepted because of it.

Did anyone send an extra letter of recommendation and get any positive or negative feedback from that? I thought about doing so but wasn't sure

Hello, the program size is about 30-32 students. My cohort in particular did not lose any students from failures but other cohorts typically lose 2-5 students but every class is different. The average for my cohort has generally been in the mid to high 80s on most of our exams. The biggest con to this program is the grading scale which deflates your grades. I personally score in the low 90s on all my exams but a 90-93 average correlates to a B+ on your transcript. This is obviously not a problem if you're looking to just get a BSN & head into the workforce but for those students who are seeking high education in the future such as myself, this can become problematic as your GPA is deflated. Nevertheless, I'm currently 2 semesters away from graduation and I don't feel like this program is impossible. You will have to sacrifice a lot of time and put in a great deal of effort into this program but as long as you put in the work and come to class, you will pass at the very least. I can't speak for everyone, but those students who got lazy and skip or don't keep up with the lectures are the ones who will get weeded out. This is a professional program and as long as you put in the time, you will be fine. Hope this helps and enjoy your time off before starting school! :) Feel free to reach out with more questions!
