Holy Family University ABSN Fall 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi!

I applied to Holy Family University ABSN full time program (Fall 2020 cohort) and wanted to create a discussion board with anyone else who applied and waiting to hear back!

@are123 I went to an informational session and they said they are scattered. Some are right by the school, some in other parts of PA, and even some in NJ (which I’m hoping happens more than once LOL).

is there Winter break in the rapid degree program?

Hello everyone.
For those who were accepted, do you mind sharing:

1. Your pre-req grades

2. how many pre-reqs were completed when you were accepted?

thanks! And congrats to you all!

@Compassionate helper Hi, they accept people with a bachelors and 3 out of 5 prerequisites completed. If you have 3 done I would definitely apply. As for my application I had A&P I, Nutrition, and Statistics completed and received A’s in those courses. Hope this helps!

Hey all, does anyone think that this virus will postpone the start date of this program?

I just got accepted to Holy Family Fall daytime cohort! Does anyone know any current students that I could reach out to? Want to get some more perspective on the program before I commit.

Hello I am a current student. Feel free to ask any question

Yes!

So what is the schedule like in the first 8 weeks?? like Monday to fri?

and then how does it change?

Also how are the exams in terms of difficulty and is the material provided in the PowerPoints, lectures, and books enough to do well if you are studying?

I say the first semester is chill, but the next two will be your busiest. It will feel hard because your always on campus. But after that it’s more relaxed So first semester I had lab on Monday’s 8-12 Tuesday 12-4 , Wednesday and Thursday lecture class and Friday to Sunday I was off.

The second semester I had class Monday and Tuesday usually 8-4 on Monday’s and 8-11 on Tuesday’s. Medsurg is usually 8-11 and Pharm is either on Monday or Tuesday for 4 hours from 1-4. Then lab was Wednesday and Friday and we had one day clinical either Thursday Saturday or Sunday.
So two semesters with lab

The third semester we had class on Monday and Tuesday same time. And two 12 hr clinical. It can be any time from Wednesday to Sunday.

After that semester it was class Monday and Tuesday with one clinical.

Exams are not bad! 3 exams that determine your grade so it’s important to do well on them. You have to learn how to study fast! Practice questions help after learning the material. They give you powerpoints and ATI books that come with your tuition. I haven’t purchased books since semester two. The materials have been enough for me.

Thanks so much! also how long was Winter break! And also I'm out of state...were you? just wanted to know some good living options around there (thats if you had an apt) thanks so much!

@Nurse2020BSN Hi! I was wondering if there was any type of Summer break as well?

Yes there is a Winter break! I say A little over two weeks. I had a final on the 17th and we didn’t come back till Jan 6th. No I didn’t live out of state, some did and got apartments in the city. It’s about a 45 min drive without traffic.
