Hmmm...

Okay all so I have been seeing many questions about a BSN vs. ADN. I was planning on attending a community college near me for an associates in Nursing and they are accredited and it is a very competitive school. I know everyone keeps saying on here to just go for the BSN, but this school is pretty cheap compared to other programs and I can afford it, I can't afford the BSN programs near me. I know there are RN jobs in my area and they only require an associates and then some experience in your position. Should I just try for my associates? I also know CNA's are in demand in my area, once place about 30 minutes from my house starts CNA's at 14.40 an hour and they hire them all the time. What would you do? I'm just so confused now on whether I should go for 2 years or 4 years or what. And I will be graduating in May with an associates in human services. Help? :(

I know several hospitals in my area are switching to hiring only BSN and several people I talk to say go straight to the BSN, but ... they aren't paying my school bill so I have to do what is best for me. My plan is to finish my ADN, get a job, then my income will be a little better and I can go get my bsn (maybe even find a job that has tuition reimbursement). As long as you know that there are positions open in your area for ADNs then I would do what works best for you.
