Hello!
I came across with this website and I really enjoy reading every experiences! So this is my situation I come from Puerto Rico and soon I will be taking the NCLEX RN (July 13) and I would like to know what should I prioritize to study for it, I already started my studying but any advice and tips help and also I would like to know about any Hispanos or foreign students that have been successful in the United States as nurses or that are in my same situation. Just to share opinions and calm a little bit my nerves. I will appreciate the help! :) Yadira!

There are a vast number of Hispanic and foreign nurses working successfully in the United States. For some foreign nurses (already legally able to live and work in the states), language can be the biggest hurdle.
I'm a firm believer in studying "the big picture" when it comes to any test. I don't get caught up in the details, but everybody is different.

Hi Yadira:
I am from PR and took my exam yesterday. Once you know the medical terminology and the main concepts you will be alright. My recomendation is to study using differents free apps for android and iphone such RN Mentor, Kaplan. They are very good.
The language of the exam is pretty easy, I was worried about that too but its ok!
Now I am in the longest and horrible period of waiting the results. We can keep in contact. You still have time for study. Some importants topics are: Infection control, maternity, triage, common drugs and those chronic conditions like DM, Alzheimer, Hyper/Hipothyroidism.
Best wishes!
