Hiring process at Napa State Hospital(NSH)

Can anyone tell me if the California budget crisis(which happens every year) will affect planned new hires for California state facilities? I assume that there is still a hiring freeze but that we are replacing nurses that have been lost to retirement, etc. I guess I could just call the recruiter and ask....I was told I was a top candidate for a small number of positions at NSH for this fall's hiring and wondering if I should be celebrating or not.

Also, what is the actual hiring process, physical and orientation entail?

I had them too. And only when I called them to confirm that I passed did they forward them to nsh. You should be fine. did you fax them or go in for your ppd test? If you didn't that might hold it up too. I know they hired 17 rns and each unit is having a different start date.

hello AmsPRN... I'm going to have my QAP Exam in Napa State this Nov and I don't know what to study.. Can you give me some tips and what to expect in the interview? I really wanna get this job.. Just like you I'm really interested in Psych nursing.. I will greatly appreciate your help.. ":)

Hi everyone,

I applied at ASH in June and finally recieved the call early October that my freeze exemption had been approved. I have completed my physical/labs/PPD etc and I'm awaiting my start date. I have called and found out that there is a HOLD on start dates right now. There are 7 of us new RN's awaiting a call. I was wondering if this is how it is now with the rest of the state hospitals or only ASH? The lady also told me that they were not submitting any new freeze exemptions right now and Sacramento isn't approving any, I also found out a near by prison laid off 119 employees.. How long will this hiring freeze last? I just want to start already..

Hello All!

I am so thankful for this site! I interviewed twice at NSH, both in the same day. I was put thru to the second interview instantly and recieved a score in the mail. Is this score for my QAP or my hiring interview? What is considered a good score? Any help is greatly appreciated! I am a new grad eager to begin helping patients! Thank you so much

I need help!!! I have received my ranking score, what does this mean? There is a list with scores of 102 applicants broken broken down into % and divided into 1-9 ranking scores. Out of these 104 applicants what is your guess on who will be selected. I would love to hear from you! Thank you for your time and help:)

Hi there, Did you find anything out in regards to your ranking score? Did you get in? I'm finally starting ASH on Monday after a long 6 month process. I'm looking forward to the change. :)

I am sad to say I did not score high enough on the 2nd interview due to our competitive nurses with experience. I passed the first one tho, so I guess I can apply at other facilities right?

I knew you have work at Napa State Hospital before. I have an interview with them coming up in December 11, 2013. I will have the QAP first and then they said if everything going will they will set up another interview for me the following week. Please help me with what material I should know.
