Not sure if this should be posted here in Nurse Management or elsewhere
Trying to get an idea of chances for employment...in any area of nursing...
Would someone hire a nurse who is on probation for the next 4 years who is in the DataBank Nurs/SYS as having a psychological impairment/mental disorder/physical illness?
Level of Experience: 6mos. biometric screenings, 2mos literature review/adverse effects identification. 6mos. Red Cross telehealth, BSN refresher course recent with hospital clinical experience, nurse's aide and nurse extern experience..phlebotomist..medical assistant.
DisorderlyConduct/summary harassment charge for disobeying a police officer in 2006
Never diverted, or had issues with alcohol dependence..
would you hire someone with these issues or would you eliminate them from the pool?

I think you can get a good feel from your candidate by interviewing them and if nothing else it will boost their confidence to know they aren't completely unhireable. You might offer them hope even if you don't hire them. Or you might find a diamond in the rough. Someone who will be damn grateful you gave them a chance. Do you think your facility may have a problem with it? You may love them but the corporate level may say no go. Doesn't hurt to meet the candidate and see what your senses tell you. I'm interested in hearing the outcome of this.
