Hints on resignation letter????

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I'm turning in my letter of resignation tomorrow morning and am wondering if anyone could offer any hints or things to say other than the usual. I'm leaving due to family issues, long story, but I'm deciding to put my son first before my wants of working as a Nurse right now. I don't have to work so that's not an issue. I typed up a letter already and put that I'm leaving due to focus on my family at this time. I didn't want to go into lots of detail and make the letter long winded. I plan to make an apt. with my Nurse Manager and explain in person my reasons for leaving.

I'd appreciate any ideas you can give me. I looked at a few different web sites but most of them require you to purchase something and I don't want to do that for one letter.

You are doing it exactly the right way. Keep the letter to the point and then explain to your NM in detail why you are leaving. You might also want to include in your letter how much you've enjoyed your employment there etc. in case you wish to return at some point in the future.

Thanks Amanda, that's what I did. I also stated that I'd like to be kept on as a PRN employee if at all possible. I may want to return there in the future but I could do some days on the weekends or in the summer when my son is out of school. I wasn't sure how that sounded but I wanted it in the letter so she would forget down the road.

Thanks for the help. I appreicate your time.

Also, say something like "I have enjoyed my period of employment at _______ and would like to consider returning in the future when my circumstances allow."
