Hi, New here

Published

I just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm an Australian Graduate Nurse in my first year of nursing (3months of my grad year left).

I have already done 6 months in Emergency and since July have been working in Neurology.

On this ward I was given 1 day orientation and then expected to have my own patients (4-5 patient load) with most of them being full nursing care (very acute stroke patients) and work within the epilepsy unit with 4 patients monitored for EEG.

Anyway my current issue is that I HATE my job. I dread coming to work and although I'm finding the staff approachable and the time management not too difficult. It's just the patients... I hate it!

Anyway I've just had 5 days off and it's my first night shift back (usually rotate between day shifts and two weeks of x4 10 hour nights)... Well Tonight is the first night and I've been unable to get any sleep through today.

I'm just so over it all..If I didn't JUST have three months left (two of those Vacation weeks).. I'd seriously consider chucking it all in...

Thanks for listening.
