Hello I am posting this for a friend that isnt quite internet ready. I showed her this forum a few weeks ago and she seemed to like it and will be up posting herself as soon as she gets a PC and a internet service.
She is trying to go from LPN to RN ( I hope I got that right), but is on probation. She has no narcotics key restrictions or anything like that. She is currently working at a non profit doing some pretty intense and probably underappreciated stuff ( isnt everyone right ? :) ).
Getting back into school is the problem. The education chairs are saying that noone on probation in Phoenix can get into school. Is this true? Anyone in Phoenix in a similar situation?
What can she do for a next step?

Well, it depends...if the program has enough room for students and she/he qualifies, this most likely will not be a problem b/c the school will see it as providing a service for a fee(unless the offense incurred would directly pose problems in the class or clinical settings) . The issue will probably be when your friend wants to sit for the RN boards so he/she should contact the BON for advice on the issue. Since I'm not sure what this involved, legal advice from a nurse lawyer may be warranted as well if there are problems with the BON.

Here is a website for you go there and read any applicable info and see if you can help your friend. The AZBN (Arizona Board of Nursing)will be able to tell her/him exactly what they need to know. If your friend has had a suspension from the Board on his/her license they have some idea of what the restriction are and for what period of time. If it is an issue of being suspended now but the board will be returning privaliges after certain time then she/he may just have to talk to one of the higher up personnel in the school to peraonally explain the situation using complete detail and complete honesty.
