hi im new and planning on finally going to college for nursing this fall! im extremly nervous anyone else?

also i was talking to a girl and she just went to a college to strickly get her lpn without taking generals first what would everyone advise?

Oh thanks so much!!!

thats helps ALOT!

i thought the saint paul tech school you have to have the required generals to get into the LPN taken at another college or does st paul offer them for you before hand too? then you would just have to apply for the lpn program?

IF hey dont . Im thinking of going to Anoka ramsey CC. to take them.

your so much help. im so thankful

You only need the 4 prerequisite classes before applying, the rest of the classes you can take before or while you are in the LPN program. They accept classes from other schools, 3 of my perequisite classes were actually from another school and they still took them. Just be sure that they are transferrable to Saint Paul College. I wish you luck!! their program is tough but very well worth it.

Oh okay cool. i havent done any of them. so i think i'll end up at Anoka ramsey for a sem to take them then transfer there? prolly . Talking to them also is prolly a good idea also. My good friend is going to st paul tech this fall! thanks alot!

are you working as an lpn now? if so congrats! how many years did it actually take u to finish everything?

It took me a total of 5 semester because I went part time for 2 semesters while in the LPN program (took me 3 semesters to finish the LPN classes) Otherwise it would've taken me only 4 semesters. When I applied there was a 1 semester waiting list that is why it would've taken me 4 semesters total going full time, but now I think it will only take about 3 semesters total to be done if they don't have a waiting list. I don't think they have a waiting list now, so if you apply by Dec 2007, you should get in January 2008, I think? Not sure though. So you could be dont by Dec 2008. I actually just took my boards last week and got licensed this week, I will be starting work as an LPN on Tuesday :wink2: ... The good thing about working as an LPN while finishing the RN program is that most employers will pay up to 100% for your RN, depending on where you work.

Oh wow..CONGRATULATIONS!

that is awesome most places will pay for RN classes that would be so nice!

So when you were talking about applying dec 2007 what school were you talking about?.(ws it anoka ramsey? since i need them required generals to get into the LPN program?)

1 year wouldnt be bad! . im really excited. i have wnated to do this for so long. I hope im done by 25 or less! Im 21 years old now. I'll be 22 in december though. So we will see!

On a personal note are you married or ina relationship? u dont need to say just thought i'd make conversation! I bet your SO excited. congrats on everything. what was the hardest? if i should even ask lol

Hey I am going to PM you! check your messages :wink2:

If you take the LPN program and get the AS degree, you will be able to transfer all of your generals to the RN program (but you will still have to take the Biology courses to get in). It's nice because if you go to a school in Minnesota that is part of the state schools your credits transfer.

I was reading that there is a LPN to BSN program coming soon and should be available next year.
