Hey everyone, I'm in need of advice.

Hello, my name is Destini I'm new here. Im 20 years old. My gpa from high school is around a 2.1 and due to family issues and a medical emergencies that happened in my first college semester, my gpa isn't that great either for college.

However, working with patients as a nurse has always been something I want to do. I am interested in going to LPN school and I'm in New York City. My issues have been sorted out and now I want to start a career in nursing.

Does anyone recommend any lpn schools that take low gpas? Or should i go back to college from nursing in CUNY which is really competitive.

You probably have to enroll into college as a regular student first to work on your prerequisites. So by the time you actually apply to nursing school your high school grades may be irrelevant.

But for me for example although my high school GPA is not factored in my grades for Chemistry and Biology are. But I know some school mates who simply replaced those with college level classes.

NYC is really competitive. You need to do all you possibly can to increase your GPA to get into a good and reputable program. When I lived in Brooklyn I couldn't find an affordable LPN program that I could pay with financial aid so I planned on going the ADN route. But I have since then moved.

You are physically fine to work as a RN. Don't expect to return to California to work if you plan to get your degree back in the Philippines, to be blunt. The brn is very strict now, a lot of information out there on these forums.

Hi zzbxdo,

thank you for your quick response well that's sucks.I met a girl from my job she graduated RN back in pi 2 years ago and she is currently working now at public hospital working as RN I don't know how she did it.i can't afford the entire program of RN here in California with my minimum wage that's impossible unless I will do the student loan rout.what about other state for instance Florida? Arizona? Or maybe Canada? Thank u in advance.
