I'm in my last semester of nursing school and we recently took a HESI predictor exam and I did horrible (693). We don't have to pass it to graduate but it does get counted as a test grade 11.2%. My question is for those that have taken the NCLEX RN in Texas did y'all think the Hesi was similar to it?? I'm worried now about taking it up until this point we always did Ati's and I always did well on those so I felt confident until taking the HESI predictor. The HESI and ati to me are way different. I purchased the NCSBN review to help me since we are taking the HESI predictor again in bout three weeks.

I don't really know what the ATI is like, and I haven't taken my NCLEX yet, but I have taken 3 HESI exams so far and I will say that they are not the easiest test to pass. At my school, each HESI progressively gets "more difficult" by pulling information forward from past semesters and also counts for more against your grade. My first HESI was about 20%, second was about 30%, third is 45% and my last HESI will be 50% of my grade.
Many of my friends that are ahead of me have said that the HESI exams are actually HARDER than the NCLEX. I don't know how true that is or if they are just trying to boost my confidence, but they said they breezed through NCLEX after having been tortured by the HESI exams.
Ultimately, I think the experience is very subjective. Do well on your ATI and HESI exams, and NCLEX is probably easier. Do poorly, and NCLEX is probably harder.

I have been told that the HESI is harder than the NCLEX by instructors at my school. However, it should help prepare you for NCLEX. I'm taking the NCLEX RN next week so I'll soon find out.
My gripe about the HESI was the horrible typos in the questions and even some of the answers...considering that they use questions as samples prior to counting them as credit, one would think the typos would have been caught.
