I have the eVolve Elsevier HESI study guide 2nd edition. I looked up the 3rd edition online and most of it is the same, some of the practice questions are different from what Google allows me to see (I can't see everything of course). Can anyone tell me if I should go ahead and buy the 3rd edition or are the concepts pretty much the same as in the 2nd? And can I pass with using the 2nd edition?
I'm trying to save money every where I can.

I took the hesi without studying ANYTHING and failed the math part, which made me fail the entire thing as a composite score ( i got a 34 in math!) Im weak in math as it is. I went ahead and bought the 3rd edition since it was the newest, and I studied it cover to cover, even got a brush up on stuff I already knew. The vocab part, ended up on my living room floor on index cards ( that really helped too). I have no idea what the 2nd edition looks like- if it looks similar....no..I honestly wouldnt chance it, there were words in the newest book that were also in the test, I dont know where you are weak- if anywhere- but I would personally get the updated version. But thats me. I passed my second attempt after studying the guide- good luck to you. :) I was going to say if its similar then just study the edition you have, words may be different but the concept is to be able to understand how to get the most correct answer
Thank you for your advice. I am horrible at math too. From what I've seen in google books the vocabulary is the same but it may not be showing me everything. I just don't want to buy the 3rd edition and it be so similar that I could have gotten by with the 2nd.
I believe people like me is what keeps newer editions working- its probably a few words different and a different cover color. I was just bought into it. Just brush up on your math skills, be sure to at least read through you vocab to make sure you do understand what.."adhere" (example) is...I think the hardest part (for me) were fractions and ratios...reading comprehension is just that just dont read TOO into it..I also used Test-Guide.com - Free practice tests and study guides, there are HESI practice questions- Im not sure if were allowed to put this on this site but that helped me too, especially for math

I took the hesi the first time to fail it.(didn't study) they then give you remediation material online. it was very helpful. I used khan academy to brush up on my math skills. good luck!!
That's how I took my Teas V test and now I sort of wish I hadn't done that even though they let you take it more than one time for UTMB. God works in mysterious ways, at the same time though because in my efforts to try to do so good on the Teas for UTMB I found Chamberlian and they seem to cater to me a little more. I'm applying to both and UTHSC but I think I'm going to try to do my best I can on my HESI. The 2nd and or 3rd edition difference, or lack of a difference makes me wonder though.

I own both copies. They are pretty much the same except the 3rd is in color. I believe you can do well with the 2nd edition or 3rd. The first time I took it I only had the second and scored a 93 overall(March 2013 I took A&P, Grammar, Reading, Math). The second time I took was last month(A&P, Reading, Math, Grammar, Vocab, Learning styles, Personality and Critical Thinking) I scored 91 overall.
