Hesi PN requirement

Published

Hello all!! I am wondering if it is still a requirement for block 2 students to pass the hesi pn exit exam with a minimum score in order to move on to block 3?

I finished block 2 at Gateway Community a while back (about 4 years) had a hard time achieving a passing score, but eventually did. I moved onto block 3, but had some problems (personal) and didn't finish. Now, I'm LPN trying to get advanced placement, and took the hesi pn (4th time) and did not score high enough. I'm going to submit application anyway to try to get admitted into block 2 (something is better than nothing). I am just wondering if my nightmare is almost over with this stupid test.

you will still have to take the hesi PN. If its been four years you will be considered advance placement lpn rather then the alternative ( im not sure the name of the alternative) I just know that LPNS that have finished their lpn course at gateway get first choice into 3rd and fourth block. For us we are chosen based on HESI exit scores.

The advanced placement application says:

HESI PN Exam: "Applicants may register for the HESI PN Exam at GateWay Community College and/or Glendale Community College (see Maricopa Community Colleges District Nursing Program). The cost of the test is approximately $46.00. Applicants must achieve a score of 850 or higher to enter Block 3 or 4. Applicants scoring less than the required score may apply for Block 2. HESI test scores are accepted only if taken within the last six (6) months."

The way I interpreted this is that you have to take the HESI regardless. Yes, you have to score a 850 or higher to move on to Block 3. If you don't score at least a 850, you can apply for block 2. Did you take the HESI again within 6 months? I would contact the school for more information and clarification.
