HESI--how do you know if you did well??

Hello All,

We took the HESI today at school, but we haven't been given very much information about it. At the end, we received our scores, but we have no idea what the numbers mean/what the highest score is/what we should aim for.

How do we know if we did well? Is there a passing score? Any info would be greatly appreciated. (We were only informed 3 weeks ago that we'd have to take this exam, and that's about the extent of the info received.)

Thanks in advance!

There should have been both a percentile ranking showing how you compare to other nursing students who've taken the exam, as well as a "composite" score that's meant to translate into an exam grade if your instructors choose to use the HESI for a final. You also get a numerical score, and at my school an 850 was considered passing. Do you have an account with Evolve? If so, you can access your HESI score reports there and look up all three scores again, as well as a breakdown of where your strengths and weaknesses were. I'm guessing your school is using your class as a test case, and that you aren't required to meet a minimum score in order to graduate. You can still get an idea of how well prepared you are for NCLEX though - they told us that an 850 is 95% predictive of passing the NCLEX on your first try.
