HESI exams use generic or brand names for drugs?

Published

I have not taken HESI exams yet, but tomorrow I have my first PHARM HESI. I am stressing becuase it is pass/fail and I have to get an 850. Last semester when we took pharm our teacher told us to learn the generic name because that is what is going to be on all tests outside of the tests she gives us. Now I have been wondering for a while if HESI uses both ( for example, a lot of the evolve practice will have " Spironalactone (Aldactone)") or if they use just one (some of the questions will just say "Spironolctone" BUT some will say just brand names like i cant remember off my head but one used a Beta Blockers brand name when it was easier for me to remember the olol for the generic than the brand.) so I am wondering if they use both or if they will use random brand names and not generic.

Expect only generic names of medications. The NCLEX now only uses generic names for medications.

Would strongly recommend only focusing on generic.
