I take my HESI entrance exam on July 11th, 2016. I am taking finals in bio and chem next week, so having those classes under my belt will help. Unfortunately, I will have to study A&P on my own bc I won't be taking the classes (human anatomy then human physiology) until the fall and spring..
My questions are for those of you who have taken the HESI entrance exam... Since I won't have an A&P class, what do you recommend me to study? I have the elsevier exam review book... But I've heard that doesn't really help with the A&P section of the HESI...
Let's say I fail one portion of the test but I pass it with a cumulative score above 75... Will I have to retake the portion I failed?
Any advice is helpful! Thx!

From my understanding of the schools that need the hesi, if you fail one part you will need to take the whole test again.
I noticed from the a&p section that learning the systems functions and locations where a big aspect of the hesi.
Hope that helps.

I've not heard of any schools making you take the part over that you failed, but you might want to check with your school to be sure. The information I've seen from most schools is that you have to pass with a cumulative score of 75. So, in that case, if you failed one part and did well enough on the rest to get an overall 75, you pass.
You might search youtube for HESI anatomy prep and watch those. If you're pretty strong with the other 6 parts, I would imagine you'll do okay overall.

Elsevier exam review book is a good book for an overview of A&P but do NOT solely use only one source. You can use that book for an overview but watch youtube videos and use any books you have that go into more details. Example of a question from when I took the test was something like what joint type is the shoulder? (it may have been worded differently but thats the idea). The answer would be ball and socket. If you look over the Elsevier exam review there is nothing in there about the joint types. So I say all that to say you will need to go deeper than what elsevier exam review provides.
Elsevier exam review is great for math, grammar, and reading
Elsevier exam review is decent for vocabulary. I definitely recommend you learning all the words that are in the book but be prepared for additional words that are not in the book. some of the words will be in a sentence and you can use context clues but others will just say "what best describes X?" and in that case you either know what the word means or you don't. if you don't just make an educated guess. I wouldn't suggest leaving anything blank.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

What book(s) do you recommend for A&P in addition to the Elsevier exam Review book? Thanks!
In addition to the Elsevier exam book I used a lab book from an old A&P class called Human Anatomy & Physiology Laboratory Manual Human Anatomy & Physiology Laboratory Manual, Fetal Pig Version, Update (1
