Hesi Entrance Exam Help

Nursing Students HESI

Published

I finished my prerequisites and all I have to do is pass the Hesi entrance exam to get into to Nursing program. But I have been struggling. I took it 3 times last year in 2018 and I passed math, vocabulary and reading comprehension with 75% or higher score which was the passing score to enter the program. Right now I'm studying to pass Anatomy and Physiology and Grammer and I already schedualed my test for next month to take those sections. But I found out yesterday on my college school website that the Hesi passing score changed for 2019-2020 year for 80% or higher to get accepted into the program. Does that mean I have to retake the test all over again or can my passing score for those 3 sections from 2018 is still accepted? Idk what to do and I'm freaking out! I'm not a good test taker and I get anxiety.

If they require 80%, they require 80% - meaning you have to retake all of them.

I'm assuming they want 80% minimum per each section, but you may want to ask if they mean cumulative. Get clarification on this.

Also, you need to check w/ the school you're applying to if it's even acceptable to take the HESI as many times as you've already done. Some schools will limit you to only take it 2 or 3 times. Beyond that, not acceptable. They may not let you apply or they just go with the best of the first two scores and in your case, it doesn't sound like it would cut it. Don't mean to rain on your parade, but just being honest.

Always check w/ the programs you're applying to when it comes to these type of questions. Different schools do things in different ways and they're not all alike.

Good luck to you

My school saids to take the Hesi Exam it's 3 attempts per year. So after a year I can take it again. I looked at the nursing program requirements and there is no limit on how many time you can take it. My school is a community college maybe that's something to so with it Idk. Thank you for the response.
