I know when I was stressed about taking the Hesi A2 I went to this site to see if anyone had any tips. So I am paying it forward! I took the test beginning of January and crushed it so what I did seemed to work.
#1 if you have the time start studying 2 months ahead of time and give yourself about 6 hours a week of dedicated study.
Overall score: 94%
Grammar: 100
Vocab: 100
Math: 92
A & P: 92
Reading: 88
Materials to buy: Excelsior study guide (everything was spot on-- especially math and grammar--- but look elsewhere for A&P). I used the Pocket guide on my phone and took the A&P tests over and over and over again. The best, however, was Quizlet. Do a search on Hesi A2 and awesome flashcards pop. You can also get specific cards for systems you are weak on...i.e (Hesi A2 hormones).
Reading Comp: Admittedly, I did nothing for this section and it was my lowest. It seemed way easy except for the vocab questions. Tricky I thought. I'd do practice questions in the Pocket Guide.
Vocab: Use Excelsior book and Quizlet.
Grammar: Easy. Use Excelsior Guide. Do practice questions in Pocket Guide.
A&P: Whoa simple questions but you have to know everything!!!! It's like trivia. Memorize every system....I got a lot of bone questions. No heart. Lots of hormones.
Math: Easy if the question was multiple choice. Nerve wracking if you had a fill in the blank Beware when they ask you to round or use whole number etc. That's probably where I went wrong. Use Excelsior Guide-- it's all you need. Lots of fractions, proportions. Know inside and out. Beware of calculator--- it has a lag time.
