Thoughts:

I used the HESI A2 Pocket Study app about every other day. I also purchased the Elsevier official study guide for about $30 off Amazon. It came with two practice tests that helped me get a feel for how the exam would be.

The test was pretty straightforward. However, the material was not exactly the same as what was covered in the study book (specifically in regards to the A&P section). I'm pleased with my scores except for A&P, of course.

The Pocket Study app's questions were by far the greatest help to me, as the questions were a good mix of difficulty and very similar to those from the assessment.

I wish I would've studied more of anatomical structures (muscles and veins/arteries), and word use ("which word best completes the sentence?").

I'm posting here to hopefully help someone else out, as this community has already helped me so much! I think it's always important to give back.

Background:

I received my degree in Biology in 2014 with only a 2.8 GPA. I then entered the military and was unfortunately forced to be an IT guy. I just got out and am finally getting back to the field that I love! I am currently applying for an ABSN program starting next summer.

Questions:

Does anyone know if there are any resources that provide insight to typical HESI A2 scores?

What about other admission statistics (GPA, etc)?

Do you have any concrete or anecdotal information about how my 72% in the A&P section will affect my admission chances?

I didn't take the Hesi since my school does the TEAS, but I got very similar scores to you and got into my CC nursing school. Since you have a higher score than 91 percent of the other people taking the test I would think you would be a very competitive candidate. My school has some kind of rubric they post online, with a certain weight granted to the previous GPA and another for the entrance exam score. I think it depends on the school and part of the country as well. My CC had a two year waiting list no matter what. The other local private colleges did not, but I would have had to pay 3 times as much. I chose to go the slow way, so that it didn't work out for me the way I expected I wouldn't be trapped by debt. Anyway, you sound like a hard working, well prepared person. Congratulations on a great score, and best wishes to you on your journey!

Congratulations!!! You did so well. @JimZimmer, I just wanted to find out about chemistry. Please, do I need to know any atomic number or atomic mass for a particular element? Thank you.
