Hello there, I am a BSN-RN from out of the States with around 3 years of ICU experience and will be interviewing for Hershey Med center, Penn State Health. Could anyone tell me about the hourly pay, differentials, benefits and how is the working environment?

Thanks in advance!!

I love it here! I started in 2018 in a student nurse externship and began my RN career in 2019. I've worked in both adult and pediatric critical care and I can say with sincerity that my work environments have been largely positive. Being a Level 1 Trauma Center for adults and peds makes it a really exciting place, too. Working at an academic medical center is really cool, and the Hershey area is a great place to be; it's very much a suburban/rural environment compared to a lot of big city academic centers.

Pay starts at I believe $33/hr approximately for new grads, and it goes up based on total years of licensure (NOT years at the hospital). Night shift differential was $3.50/hr last time I worked it about 6 months ago.

Benefits are pretty par for the course: decent health insurance options, cheap vision and dental, options for life insurance and short-term disability, and more. There is a 401(k) match of 5% which is nice to have!

Compared to my experiences at various health systems in undergrad, Hershey is fantastic. If you have any other questions let me know.

Thank you so much. I have my interview next week.

Is the years of licensure counted from NCLEX licensure or from the licensure of the  country I belong to? I passed license in my country 6 years back and NCLEX 2 years back.

Hi, sorry for the delay. I'm not sure if you've interviewed yet or not, but the years of licensure I believe is counted from your NCLEX.
