I was just accepted to an ADN program on July 1st, and the health form states that I need to show the 3 shot series and a titer for immunity. I didn't know that this was a requirement. I have only taken one dose, and my second is scheduled for July 24th. I am supposed to have all documentation by August 5th. I thought I would be able to decline until I finished the series, since I currently work at a hospital , and they don't require it. Do you think they will still let me participate in the program with only 2 shots down?

The only one who can answer this is someone involved in the program. Hep B is becoming more commonly required. If you show documentation that you are midway through the series, they may allow you into the program but you may not be eligible for clinical rotations at certain facilities. I've always been able to sign a waiver regarding Hep B. I've had the series of shots 3 times and my titer remains negative. I show documentation that I've had the series followed by a titer and then I sign a waiver acknowledging that I am aware of the risks.

I know my school allows us to sign a waiver the first day of class and then you just show documentation once the series is completed.

The only one who can answer your question is your nursing program. Some programs require the vaccination and will not budge on it. Some programs will allow you to start the program if you are in the process of getting the vaccine series completed and will require proof of completion when you finish. And some programs will let you sign a waiver if you do not wish to receive the vaccine.

I would check with your program because each is different. My program you had to have the first two finished before the start and the third one 6 months after the first (pretty sure this is the CDC recommendation).
