why does it say that if theres a decrease in level of hgb and hct, there is a risk for infection.?

Sounds like a homework question. What ideas come to mind? How do you think H&H would affect the immune system? If the "it" in "why does it say . . ." refers to a textbook, you should be able to find information there.
