Hi everyone! I'm a new member here in allnurses.com
I'm a practical nurse (LPN) graduated about 2 yrs ago and recently got hired about 2 months ago. It's my first job as LPN and honestly,,, I'm not sure if I really like my job... First few weeks of my work everytime I go home I just burst into tears.. As of now I think I'm okay and just sucking it up, I honestly wanted to quit, but I need the experience. I wanted to go to a different field but I thinks it's too early to do so?
Any words of advice Pls? Am I only the only one feeling this way?
I've been very depressed lately, my life is a mess because I always do night shift and evenings. My workplace is 1.5 hrs away from home, and there's always meetings.
I feel so lost...

It definitely sounds like your job is causing a lot of unnecessary stress. It is not too early to change jobs if it makes you happy! Many would say to stay at least 6 months before transferring but if you have to drive 1.5 hours away and you dread going to work and feel depressed then I would look for another job! Try to find something that interests you. When you first start in nursing and with any new job it is always going to be stressful until you can get the job tasks and time management down. You will be just fine! We have all had experiences like you are having and it is perfectly normal! Are you not happy with your job because of the type of job it is or are you not happy because you dont know exactly what is expected of you in your current role? You need to figure that out first and then come up with possible solutions. Many times we feel like you feel simply because we dont know exactly what is expected of us or we feel like we had no orientation and were pretty much thrown to the wolves! Please let me know if I can help in any way. I promise you it will get better but you have to do what is right for you!!!
