HELP!! Will I get this PCT job??

Nurses Career Support

Hello !!

I am an ADN SN in DFW area.

I have been applying for PCT position since day one of nursing school. I applied this one full time days tech position at THR(TX health resource). And I finally got a first phone call back about two weeks ago!!

Here's a timeline of story..

11/03 - First, I had an one-one interview with an interim manager then a panel interview with three supervisors. It went well.. The manager said he was impressed with my critical thinking skills when asked a couple of situational type of questions. So did with supervisors. I was asked if I am interested in working night shifts and of course, I said yes. The whole interview lasted about an hour and I was told that the decision would be made by the end of the day. I was unable to upload my recommendation letter when I had submitted resume&cover letter online so I called an interim manager to ask his email address. This was when we briefly talked about night shifts. If I was agreeable working night shifts, possibility of another interview etc. It was a very short conversation. I emailed my letter and a thank you note afterwards.

Thankfully, I received an email from an interim manager that night saying....

"I would be an asset to the team and how he wants to move ASAP". Also, he said he would follow up for an approval of full time night shift next morning and would contact me as soon as he knows something.

11/04 - Because it was such a short conversation, I started to have a concern about my stability with this position. What if I fail to impress in an interview and not were to offer the job. So I decided to contact the manager. I emailed him with another brief thank you note along with some several questions and shared my concerns. I waited for the reply but did not get one. So I sent a short follow up email for updates later that day and yup no reply.

Today 11/05 - My anxiety reaches its peak. I wanted to know what is going on. So I called her and left a brief follow up voice message. And yup NO replies.

So my question is.. Now I know that the first email was not for a final.job offer. Do you guys think I blew this opportunity because I was being obnoxious whole time ?? Bothering him too much ?? It was my first time going through this kind of hiring process and yes, I might have made some critical mistakes during process.

Should I just wait ? Should I contact hiring office? Or recruiter?

Sigh... hope I hear something back tomorrow...

Thank you for reading this thread.

It's only been two days, right? No need to panic. The employment process never moves very fast because there are so many 'moving parts'.

You are correct in assuming that the convo you had was not a real job offer. Job offers are formal documents that usually include the phrase "offer of employment", "terms of employment" or a similar phrase. It will also contain information about the work schedule, start date & salary as well as a person to contact if you have any questions. Sometimes they also include information about where to go/what to do on your first day of work. Trust me - it will be pretty obvious that it is a real job offer.

For future reference - one of the most important pieces of information that you need to have during the interview process is .... when you will hear from them about a decision. If they do not provide it voluntarily, always ask something like "when can I expect to hear back from you?" Since they didn't provide that info, do not feel bad about following up to find out what is going on.

Good luck - hope you get the job!
