So, I graduated the PN program in Dec and have received my provisional license, and am now on the hunt for the 120 hour Internship the KY BON requires before I can take the NCLEX.
My resume is going to be BARE!
I have spent most of my life being mama to seven kids. I am 36 and with the exception
of scattered parttime jobs such as cashier and dry cleaner clerk when I was much younger, I dont really have much experience to list.
I was a certified doula for several years, but I worked for myself.
I do have lots of hospital volunteer experience......as a TEEN! In fact my best friend and I had the teen program started at our community hospital when we were 12 years old. Then when I was a little older I had volunteered a lot at a local nursing home.
But, other than my clinicals and my 120 hour preceptorship, I'm not sure how to make my resume sound decent!
Please Help!

Hi one husband seven kids
All those clinical hours and preceptorship time was experience. You explain you were a student and worked within scope of competence etc. Where it says accessment criteria, chose one or two events to match the criteria question and state what you did well. For example if you had a patient with chest pain...You alerted Doctor or charge nurse, in merantime you raised bed head, took vital signs, charted pain pain chest chart, administered oxygen at 6 L/min, administered GTN (Under supervision if nec). You then lowered bedhead to
performe ECG, took send set of vital signs.Evaluated patient to see if GTN tablet worked, Ensured patient comfort and documented.
That is one examplwe. If you have been a student, esopecially with seven children they will expect you to have had limited working experience. At home on a personal note, you could state you managed and organised seven children with different needs pertaining to school, leisure, nutitional needs and nursing/first aid management. Hope it helps and le us know how you get on. Well done and good luck.

Oh, no problem! Thanks for the advice, and one of the children was born with spina bifida and has major medical problems and paralyzed for life - so that's alot of experience right there!
