Help Please! Pre-Requisites, RN, LVN? What are my options?

Published

Hello! I am looking into the accelerated BSN programs at Azusa and CUI, however I have to finish my pre-requisites. I have about a years worth of courses to take until I can apply. Due to certain life experiences, my last two years as an undergrad I did very poor in school and my GPA went from a 3.6 to a 2.9. I am retaking some courses and taking some that I never took while in school. Two courses I will be repeating for the 3rd time and one for the 2nd time.I know that many schools will not admit students who have repeated a course more than once. I've also read so many forums here and have heard stories about students not getting admitted with high GPA's. This makes me really nervous. My entire life I've wanted to be an RN and I am not going to quit. I will find a way no matter how long it takes. But I also want to know which route to take. I am considering taking an LVN- RN route, but I am not sure if that will help my situation. I don't know if I should just finish my pre-requisites at a CC and hope for the best. I've always been a very good student and never had a hard time getting good grades. I went through a very rough time and I am paying the price now for not focusing in school. Now that I am past the hump I know that I am fully committed to school. I just want to make the right choice. I am even considering going to WCU because I am scared no other school will accept me, but the tuition prices depress me. I don't know what to do! Help please!

Don't limit your choices --- apply to as many ABSN, BSN {standard track}, and ADN programs that you would consider attending.. and there is nothing wrong with the LVN to RN route.

Best of luck.

I'm scared to waste my time at a CC trying to fix my GPA and repeating courses and it'll all be for nothing when I apply a year later. Someone also told me that LVNs are dying out and they don't really get hired. Also, if regular RN programs won't accept students who are retaking courses, is it the same for LVN to BSN?

Also, will my grades as an undergrad also affect my chances into an LVN-BSN program?
