okay, so i'm half way through for my pharm class and need to learn about 60 medications and there class, side effects, contraindications, patient teachings, and what the drug does and is used for!! anyone already taken this class have any tips on how i can learn all this in less than a month for my final??? i made flash cards but i keep mixing up one med with another... i'm thinking of color coding them by drug class but i'm not sure. any ideas?

I found that learning the classifications does help....also learn how the drug acts in the body this will help you with side effects without just memorizing

I agree with Rae30. You can color code the cards to help you remember which classification in. Once you can memorize that drug X is in classification Y, then you've just saved yourself a lot of memorizing because most of the drugs in classification Y will all have the same therapeutic effect, adverse effects, nursing considerations, etc.
And if you understand how that class of drugs works in the body,then you can figure out that info too!

definitely color code, it really does help! And I agree if you understand how the drug works than you can rationally think about side effects and patient teaching without having to straight memorize it. Just keep reviewing them over and over, you'll be surprised how quickly you can remember them!
