Here is the thing......I am in my final year of student nurse...but I still can't get rid of performance anxiety.... I am an extreme nervous person........when I get SC, IV, IMI etc in front of someone...I can clearly feel my heart beats and my hands sweat and shake.... So I start to avoid doing such things to prevent embarrassment...
But half year later I will become a RN.... I want to practice more ............. does anyone have the similar experience and suggest some solutions for my situation................ PLEASE HELP ME.............. It has made me crazy and stress ..................THANKS!!

Well, I'm starting 2nd semester of nursing this monday, so I really don't have that much experience to share with you- but I know exactly how you feel. I get so nervous when the instructors are watching me. My hands start shaking and it seems like the more I try to get them to stop shaking the more they shake
Last semester during my skills check-off for IM, SQ & ID, my instructor asked me, "why are your hands shaking", of course this made me feel like an idiot and I just smiled and said "I'm nervous". Anyway, there are several posts on these forums that give suggestions on how to "get a handle on your nerves". I just keep telling myself that the more we practice our skills, the more confident we will become........Hope this makes you feel a little better :nuke:

May I suggest a conference with your physician or a psychiatrist. There are many medication out there that can help your anxiety. One that is common is a beta blocker. In small doses it can help you overcome being nervous and won't lower your blood pressure. You might also try a small dose of anxiety medications such as Xanax. Let me know how it goes for you.
thanks for your help..I will search some old posts for solution.............. thanks~
