help with OB care plan

Hello all,

I've been working on an OB careplan for a few hours, and I'm stuck. I had to perform a complete physical assessment on a newborn. I'm type up the results of my assessment. I've also filled in what my expected findings were, and normal variations that can occur. The last box I need to fill in is the clinical significance.

What exactly does this mean? Is this the signifcance of my findings, and what they mean for this newborn?

I've been thinking about it so much that I'm having a brain freeze!! I know that I have made it too complicated for myself, and I would just like someone to set me straight.

Thanks!

I think it's for you to analyze any abnormal data and discuss what treatments or interventions are needed for this newborn. For example, if you found jaundice as abnormal data what would you do about it? What interventions/treatments would you anticipate?

I think this is what they are looking for. :)

Good Luck

Hi, meeschell, and welcome to allnurses! :welcome:

You know, it sounds like you are filling out a form required by your nursing program. Was this form explained to you students? Do you have the phone numbers of some of your fellow students that you can contact? One of them may remember specifically what you guys were told was supposed to be addressed in this part of the form. I wouldn't depend on the opinions of a bunch of strangers, especially when your grade is at stake. Ultimately, contact and ask your instructor.
