HI I was to start a new job today doing something I have wanted to do for a long while. I did everything required and did it nicely and professionally. I went through Credentialling and Priveleging, and got a PPD last week etc. This last Friday at 4:30pm I got a call saying that i couldn't start on Monday, today, because the "Interim" Director of my dept (whose specialty is Oncology Research. not Neuro which is the Dept) has some questions ,and he wants to "look at my file for a week or two:!! What?!! A week or two? It has been signed off on by Credentialling, by the Medical Staffing Office and went to the committee. from there to this Interim Director. I am at such a loss. My higher up, Asst Director, said he would call me today and was to talk to this "director" at noon and had talked over the weekend. No call!! At this point the DEA and the Board of Nursing have this place as my employer and one of the docs as my supervising doc. They act like they can do anything they want. I see no way forward!!!!
Yesterday Asst Director czalled and knows nothing! Got the same "I want to look over some documents and we'll call her tomorrow!!" I am disgusted!
Just got anogther cll from Exec Sec in my dept saying thatboth Asst and Director will call me tomorrow . Sounds very ominous!! Supposedly "sometning came up" in my file that is causomg problem, but I have no idea what it is. Could me my age or illness. I have come so far through this process to have the Interim Director refuse to sign off so I cannot start work. I am scared!!

Credentialing is a frustrating process. But I don't see why your age would have anything to do with it or your illness as long as you are qualified to do the job.

"something came up" can be any number of things:
1. A misspelled name of a professional reference
2. Dates accidentally left off or misquoted.
3. Background application issues including credit check
4. Appearance in the NPDB
5. Issues with previous employer
6. Lawsuits
Best wishes...
