Hey everyone! So I am currently enrolled at ECPI University in Richmond VA with their ADN Program and I'm about half-way done (graduating in July 2021). However, my family is moving to Sacramento pretty much after I graduate, and I pretty much have no choice in the matter but to move with them.
I was also told that... by the California Board of Nursing, VA is not one of the certified 22 states where you can transfer my license, and that I would possibly have to take extra classes such as Microbiology and Chemistry in order to be certified. Personally, I really don't want to spend more money on college than I already need to. I am planning on getting my BSN right after, but I want to start working as soon as I graduate. So with that said... here are my questions?
1) Generally speaking, will California accept my program or not? And if not, will I have to take those extra classes in order to be able to have a nursing license in California?
2) I am aware that there is the option of transferring my license online by endorsement, but I heard that takes awhile and I'm more likely to get denied. The other option I heard is that you can just register to take the NCLEX in California, but I would still need to take the required extra classes in order to be applicable. With that said, would it be better to register for the NCLEX in California?
3) I tried to do as much research as I could, but for the most part, I can't really find direct answers related to my situation. So are there any other options/info I missed?

Nobody here can speak for the state of CA. You have to deal with them and see what they say. Some Filipino nurses who graduated from the same program in the same year, have found that the CA Board accepts one's education record and denies licensure to another. Just another reason why no one here can speak for the Board. If you think you need to take Micro and Chem, then be proactive and take the courses while you are still a student there so that they show up on your transcript. There are a certain number of credits that one is allowed to exceed those required for graduation, so bite the bullet and take the courses.
Edited to Add: If you look on the CA BRN website you will see that Microbiology is a required course for RN licensure, as well as anatomy, physiology, social science, and behavioral science (psychology) to total 16 semester hours or 24 quarter units. These requirements are pulled from the California Code of Regulations section 1426. I have found that several of the science courses usually have Chemistry as a prerequisite. This is something that you will have to research at your school.
