I need some good advice!
So I've been an RN for 2 years. Did 6 months SNF and have been on a tele/onc floor for the last 1.5 years. I like the floor, I'm not in LOVE with it.
I went for a per diem position for home health. The recruiter told me per diem. Turns out it was for f/t. Basically told them I wasn't leaving my job for less $. They made me a really, really nice offer and sign on bonus.
Pros: flexible, better pay, independence, work every 7th weekend.
Cons: away from hospital environment, wait 60 days for medical ins (I have 2 little kids), going into strangers homes
ok...
so job #2 offer is outpatient surgical. It's at the hospital I'm at now. The pay is the same, I could keep my insurance, if I hated it I could move back to my old unit.
But everyone I've told has said this department has some management issues. I asked about it in the interview and was told basically it was gonna be all new staff and yes they are working on fixing up the unit toward a more positive change.
So I'm torn, b/c idk how bad the management is. It's all talk, idk anyone that worked on that floor. From what I hear it is very fast paced, but so is the floor. The hours are great and on call is not that many days per month, like 3. I'm ok with that. And I live less than 10 min away. And they will cross train to GI and Pacu and train how to do certain infusions.
Then...
i had interview #2 with another hospital for GI lab. Pay would be more than outpatient, but they require 150 hours on call, minimum, within a 6 week period. So you can work 11 days in a row, at least! Pros: in a hospital, benefits are supposed to be good, good hospital. cons: lots of on call hours!!
I accepted home health, which was a tough choice b/c I wasn't expecting to leave my job on the floor yet. But I haven't done any paperwork with h/h either. I'm supposed to start in less than 2 weeks.
Next week I have a per diem interview for forensic nursing! This would def be a dream job for me!! I would take this job over all the above in a heartbeat! But this is just an interview and it's per diem.
So with that being said, can someone offer some advice?? I'm so torn! I have too many options! I know what I don't want, the floor, but I don't know what I REALLY want!
So 2 solid offers, a possible 3rd.
Someone help me see what I'm missing! Thanks!

Good problem to have eh? What state is this if you dont mind me asking? Forensic nursing sounds interesting. I wouldnt know what to do either if it was me. Obviously, you dont want to be in your current position thats why you were looking for something else. I would pick the outpatient surgical within the same hospital. This way, there would be no break in your insurance coverage.

Outpatient surgical would be the best one.
