Help! I'm a new grad & new in CO!

U.S.A. Colorado

Hello!

I am a new grad from Texas. I passed my NCLEX and have moved to the Northwest Denver area. My Colorado license is currently pending. I have had a little trouble finding a position. Most of the new grad programs started before I got moved up here. I'm needing employment soon! Any information or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kim

I have heard that Rose and the VA in Denver are still open. These places typically do not interview before a new grad either gets an ATT and/or passes boards. I think Poudre Valley in Fort Collins may be hiring as well. Good luck!

Could it be that you don't have a CO license yet? Have any of the hospitals told you to return once the license is received? I understand you have passed NCLEX however I dont know how long it takes to get the CO license so therefore maybe the hospitals arent willing to hire you yet and fill a position for someone that isnt able to begin work right away.

Hi,i Am Reaching Denver Co.next Week On A Valid Tourist Visa Till 2016.i Am Nurse In India With 23 Yr Exp.i Have Already Applied For Nclex With California Nursing Board And Rcd Att No.i Need To Know That Where Can I Get A Job Immi Without Appearing For Nclex.no.2 If Nclex Is Must Then Do I Need To Register With Colorado Board Of Nursing

It seems that this is a common problem in Denver.....hospitals only hire 'new grads' 1-2x per year. You have to be at the right place at the right time. If you are desperate for a job - it is relatively easy to get hired by LTC facilities.....as a way to pay your bills until you can get into a hospital position - just a suggestion.

And all you need is proof that you passed the nclex.....you don't have to wait for your actual license to arrive to apply for jobs.

I'm from Colorado Springs and most hospitals in CO stopped hiring graduate nurses years ago. They require you to have your license before employment. However, most are willing to interview and give you a job offer beforehand. I know Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs is very flexible and currently looking for new grads especially on certain floors. I'm not too familiar with the Denver area. Swedish, SkyRidge, and Denver Health are all great hospitals. Look into correctional nursing as well. It pays very well and they are always looking for RN's.
