I have been an RN(BSN) for 10 years started out on the medical floor worked there for about 1.5 years it was not my cup of tea. I transferred to L&D and worked as a scrub nurse for C-sections and care of postpartum and newborns. I worked there for about 3 years but the rotating schedule of nights and day got the best of me and I wasn't working with sick patients. I found a home health job Mon-Friday. I really did not like working 5 days a week and the working conditions were not great and management was horrible. I only lasted about a 1.5 years there. I needed to get out and hospital had no openings at that time so I took a night position at a LTC rehab facility I really enjoyed the work. At the same facility I took the weekend supervisor position after working the floor for 2 years. I have been in the weekend supervisor position for the last 3 years. It was very exciting at first I was responsible for staffing and helping out prn for the entire campus and working the floor if needed. Lately I feel stagnate and really want to go back to hospital and work in the NICU since I really liked the L&D department environment. I think the NICU would be stimulating and challenging. I submitted my application early this week. I wonder since I have been out of the hospital setting for the last 6-7 years do I even have a chance of getting this position or even an interview? Please help I need some feedback!!
