Hey everyone, I really need your advice. I currently have been working every week-end for 1 yr, 9 months at this agency, well, 2 weeks ago the DOO told me I got the part-time job during the week that I applied for but it would depend on when she fills my job as to when I can move to the new position. Everyday since then I go on the company web site and my current week-end job is still NOT posted. So....yesterday I called and nicely asked when I might be able to get off the week-ends since my husband and family are so eager for me get to see them. To which she replied, "well I have to look at the staffing module and show a need for your position since we are RN heavy right now." So, I said, "So do you know how long that might take?" She said, "Well, NO Tami I don't know." I said, "well are we talking 6 months or what?" She said, "no I don't think it will take that long." So I thanked her and that was that. My problem with her answer is this.....we just lost 2 RNs to clinical nursing positions, 1 part-time and 1 was full-time, both during the week. How can we be RN heavy? And why does she have to show a need for a position which I already have? A new position I could understand, but I am working my tail off on the week-ends, there definitely is a need, LMAO. Just wondered what you all think about this. And of course, I work for 1 of the dreaded companies, the name I won't mention.

Well, you can press the issue or you can let it go. I would wait a reasonable amount of time, then revisit the problem. If nothing happens in the meantime or after you bring it up again, you will need to assert yourself to the extent that you really want the change.
