I am a year into nursing school. I attended a junior college in pensacola, fl. I just recently moved to Ft. Worth, Tx. I will more than likely start back with school in Sept. In the meantime I would like to find a job as a tech. I had a friend who got a job after her first year of school. She did not have to be certified to get this job. I wouldn't think that it would be this difficult to find a job like this. I have a years worth of clinicals uder my belt, but I am not certified. Everywhere I look, it talks about a certification? Just wanted to know if anyone could help.

I think in some states you can take the cna exam after your first year of nursing school. This isn't the case in my state and I don't know what the law is in Tex but here most jobs will consider you if you've had fundamentals of nursing but you stand a better shot of getting hired if you have your cna license. Some cna courses are only a few weeks and worthwhile if it means the difference between getting a job if you need one. If you can find a class now you'll be able to get your license and work for a few months before you start school again.

hi. i dont live far from ft. worth. and you will start school in august..not september..unless you are doing flex classes, but nonetheless you can get a job if you are a current nursing student as a patient care technician. or you can just go to a nursing home that offers free cna classes in return for you employment, or you can take a cna course from ELITE, or Dunbar HS its four weeks and you'll be done. i hope this helps.
